Get a pizza the action at Homeslice

We have a passion for all food here at Love Hospitality, but pizza holds a special place in most people’s hearts. Whether it’s your go to hangover cure, a special treat or your favourite meal, the world would definitely be a darker place without the humble pizza.

But with big love comes big competition. “The best pizza ever” is banded about all over the place, but who is really up there in the delicious hall of fame?

As ever, we are lucky to have so many different options in London, with countless Italian restaurants and stand-alone pizzerias on our doorstep. And after trying an unhealthy amount of pizza all over London, we just can’t stay away from Homeslice. With five locations across the city (Neal’s Yard, Fitzrovia, City, Shoreditch and White City) the company has grown rapidly from its pop-up beginnings in 2011. Starting life with a mobile wood-fired oven built by founder Ry Jessup, Homeslice was launched at London Fields Brewery and sold out within hours. They then went on to sell pizza at markets and festivals before setting up a space at Kings Cross Filling Station in 2012.

Brothers Mark and Alan Wogan then got on board and helped Homeslice acquire its first permanent residency in Neal’s Yard in 2013. Ry and Mark wanted to retain the simplicity of the original idea, balancing tradition with innovation. And the result is what has made the company one of the city’s best loved pizza places.

The perfectly honed menu full of fresh seasonal produce and original ideas will blow you away. There are 10 pizzas on offer, and the 20-inch pies are a sight to behold, with the option of half and half so you can try more than one flavour. The brilliant but simple design of huge sharing pizzas captures the friendly spirit of community within the company. But solo diners need not despair, as three of the pizzas come in single slices too.

Our favourite half and half twinning is the mushroom, ricotta, pumpkin seed and chilli paired with the BBQ beef brisket, pickled carrots and celery. But the rest of the menu is equally as delicious, with flavour combos of aubergine, cauliflower cheese, spinach and harissa or spiced lamb, savoy cabbage and sumac yoghurt. And for those who don’t like to stray from tradition, the margherita is classically delicious.

We love the simple complexity of the expertly designed menu, with wine, prosecco, Camden Hells beer, Aperol spritz’s and a selection of soft drinks available to wash the pizza down with. The staff are warm and friendly, explaining the menu and how everything works in the constantly busy restaurants. The chilled vibe is perfect for unwinding after work or a lazy afternoon.

One of the best parts is that Homeslice also does take away pizza, with Supper London delivering them all over the city, so you can enjoy with friends at home or simply live off a 20 incher for a week on your own. Whatever you choose, we can guarantee your life will be changed for the better. Get down to your closest Homeslice asap for the most delicious pizza you’ve had in ages.
